Governor Douye Diri today graced the 6th Combined Convocation ceremony of the Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island where 7,793 graduands were awarded various Degrees and Diploma certificates as well as 783 Postgraduate Degrees.
The convocation covers for three academic sessions of 2019/2020, 2020/2021, and 2021/2022.
Governor Diri who said he was happy with the academic progress of the institution under the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Samuel Edoumiekumo, promised to support the improvement of facilities in the University.
He has directed the immediate construction of a new and befitting Convocation Arena and development of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences.
The Governor as the Visitor to the University was accompanied to the event by the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
Governor Diri congratulated the graduands on the successful completion of their programmes.
