The people of Bayelsa State have long yearned for development and this is a major task before the incumbent Governor, Senator Douye Diri.

Good is good; the people deserve the best for a good living. Diri, is embarking on big ticket projects to the admiration and interest of the people.

Truly, a new Bayelsa with worthy infrastructures all around is emerging under a silent achiever.

Even the critics at the inception of this administration have changed their perception following waves of projects going on across the State.

What a prudent leader? In the midst of dwindling revenue profile, he has sustained projects construction. Diri, must be a great manager of resources to take up these projects at this time and still give priority to payment of salaries, pensions, gratuities and death benefits every month.

Construction work at the Glory Drive from Ecumenical Centre and Igbogene-AIT Elebele outer ring road which have been on the drawing board for many years are progressing well. These projects will open up Yenagoa, the State capital for economic development.

The beautification of the redesigned Edepie-Etegwe round-about is a pointer to the great strides from this government to the effect that, greater things are possible in Bayelsa State.

To improve the aesthetics of that round-about, just recently, the Governor has given an experienced Bayelsan artist, Mr. Pius Waritimi, the charge to come up with an impressive work of art at the round-about. Yes, Bayelsans are sure waiting for this too.

The Yenagoa-Oporoma road project is a big testimony and realisation of dreams of the founding fathers of the State. Again, Diri, has shown commitment to this project, and work on the bridge at Aguobiri is ongoing while the contractor has opened up the road to Angiama town.

The contractor has promised to speed up work to Angiama where a long bridge will then cross the river into Oporoma town, headquarters of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.

Between the Yenagoa-Oporoma road and ongoing Sagbama-Ekeremor road, many more riverine communities are being linked by roads.

The Igbedi road is equally progressing well and the reconstruction of collapsed Elebele bridge is on course.

The Nembe Unity bridge, which has also been on the card for many years is progressing. Truly, Diri, is at work.

This is a governor who is personally visiting project sites to ensure contractors are measuring up. Indeed, many Bayelsans have appreciated him for this leadership style.

And now, the real deal is agriculture and the government has shown that it means well because agriculture remains the surest way to prosperity.

The conception, and planning is almost over, with various partnership signed for farmers’ training and massive aquaculture project.

The government is moving towards implementation while some pilot schemes have shown a lot of promise.

For instance, the rice farms in Sampou, School -to-Land and different farms in Southern Ijaw and Brass among others have proven to be productive with paddy harvested for processing.

The Starch factory in Ebedebiri is ready for production and farmers have been charged to increase their cassava production.

The brand new airport with daily commercial flight operations is a ‘ginger’ to Bayelsa economy.

Like the Governor said, “This airport will take Bayelsa to the world and the world to Bayelsa State.”

Does anyone still doubt the developmental efforts of the present administration?

Please, do keep an open mind as most of the projects will begin to materialise soon.

This governor understands why he is here and it is for true service to the good people of Bayelsa State.

Repeatedly, he has asked for patience and understanding from the people and has continually called on all Bayelsans to join hands with him in the development of the State.

Indeed, this governor, as a man of peace, has shown that he means well for the people.

Ijaw music maestro, Barrister Smooth, did not mince words in his lyrics, Diri’s emergence as Governor was no mistake.

In Bayelsa today, it is a new culture of development by a listening leader and surely, a new Bayelsa is emerging under a working-well Governor, Senator Douye Diri.
