Gov. Diri, worthy ambassador of National Assembly– Senate President
President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, says Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, is a top performer in every assignment before him.
Senator Lawan was speaking during the conferment of an award of “Ambassador of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria” to Governor Diri at an award dinner hosted by the Senate Press Corps in Abuja.
Presenting the Award, the Senate President noted that the contribution of Senator Diri while at the Green and Red Chambers were remarkable and worthy of recognition.
He stated that it was not surprising from the testimonies that he is hitting the ground running in Bayelsa State and that such practical leadership speaks volumes of “a man ready to take Bayelsa State to the next level.”
Receiving the Award, Governor Douye Diri, expressed his appreciation to the Press Corps for the honour and that the recognition was for the people of Bayelsa State.
“While at the House of Representatives between 2015 and 2019 and then in the Senate in 2019 till I left to serve my people as Governor, I was just doing my best for my constituency and never knew many were taking accounts including our friends in the media. Thank you all for the honour”, Gov. Diri stated.
Others at the event were the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Also, some members of the National Assembly from Bayelsa State accompanied His Excellency to the awards dinner and they include, Hon. Fred Obua, Hon. Preye Influence Oseke and Prof. Steve Azaiki.
