… appreciates the family, calls on Ijaws to be united, preach love
His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, today honoured the first civilian Governor of the State, late Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha during an 8th memorial anniversary lecture at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall, Onopa, Yenagoa.
Governor Diri was joined by his wife, Dr.(Mrs.) Gloria Diri, his guest, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, and Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo alongside other top government functionaries.
Governor Diri while speaking at the event described the late Ijaw icon as Governor of the people stating that “we should do away from the tendencies that will separate us and embrace unity as Ijaw people.”
“He was indeed an Ijaw Nationalist in all ramifications, and wherever Ijaw interest is found, Alamieyeseigha is there to protect that interest.
Alamieyeseigha was a Governor of the people and anyone who had contact with Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha will never regret it.
So, there is a lot we have learnt from this man. Today, some of the things I do, that some people don’t know that I learned from the late Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha.
We should look at the things that will bring us together rather than the things separating us. Let us look at how we will build Bayelsa State and the Ijaw nation.
Also, visiting Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, joined the celebration and saluted the courage of late DSP for laying a solid foundation for a new Bayelsa.
