… rewards winners of 2nd editionHis Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State has adopted the annual prosperity marathon put together by his Special Assistant on Special Duties, Mr. Odonkumo Igbeita.

Receiving winners of the 2nd edition of the 10 kilometre marathon which started at Edepie/Etegwe roundabout at the Peace Park, Yenagoa, Governor Diri commended the organisers and said sports remains a veritable platform to engage young people.

The Governor who directed that the annual marathon be included in the 3rd anniversary of the administration next year and beyond, said he would want to continue with the marathon even after office as part of his own contribution to sports development.

He congratulated the champion, James Odelana who returned in a time of 36.02 secs and then presented cash gifts to other winners.Clinton Amara was placed 2nd in 40 minutes, while Anthony Sampou came 3rd in 42.07 secs.

Among the females, Queensley Asedo came first followed by Ebi Bolouebi and Adidas Orutua.Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Daniel Igali, Rt. Hon. Tonye Emmanuel Isenah and the Chief of Staff, Government House, Chief Sunday Benson Agadaga, were on the ground to support the Governor.
