Bayelsa State Government today signed a memorandum of understanding with an international aquaculture company, African Atlantic Golf of Guinea Fisheries Limited to establish a complete industrial fishing, seafood and fisheries production value chain in the State.

In the MoU signed at the Executive Council Chambers in Government House, Yenagoa, 2,500 Youths will be trained while about 4,000 jobs will be provided.

Governor Douye Diri used the opportunity to call on the youths of the State to take advantage of the opportunities in aquaculture to earn a living.

“Today is one day that will go down in the anals of the history of this Government, because when we came with the word of prosperity was when the devil struck with COVID-19 and our economy had a downturn. We welcome this synergy and collaboration, and as a government we assure you that you have our 100% support.

I like to use this opportunity to call on our youths, that whilst we preach prosperity, prosperity will not be monies flying in from heaven. Prosperity will be by just what we have done and the youths should seize this opportunity, because the benefits therefrom are very enormous”
