At last, the dream of having a road network linking Nembe and Brass Local Government Areas is coming to light.
At the 70th Bayelsa State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Douye Diri, the meeting approved the commencement of the phase one which covers 21 km with 10 bridges.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mr. Ayiba Duba and his Works and Infrastructure counterpart, Moses Teibowei, said the job would be awarded to a competent contractor after the Procurement Unit conclude on the financial details.
“The Nembe-Brass road has been divided into 3 sections and we are starting with the Phase one. This one is 21 km with 10 bridges and cover up to St. Nicholas river. After the procurement team completes its work on the figures, we will then award to a competent contractor. That is when we then have the flag-off of this strategic road project”, Teibowei stated.
Also, Health Commissioner, Dr. Pabara Newton Igwele, said the approved weekly walk would help top government functionaries and others stay healthy.
On the political happenings in the State, the Special Adviser on Political Matters, Chief Collins Cocodia, said the executive council warned PDP aspirants to desist from unwarranted protests and blackmails against perceived opponents within the same party.
