Commissioner for Information Orientation and Strategy Hon. Ayiba Duba asserts that sports serves as soothing balm to many across the world.
The Commissioner made this known while commending the Bayelsa State executive members of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), in his office, Yenagoa.
Hon. Duba stated that the daily analyses of sporting activities by sports journalist in the media provide opportunities for sports lovers to air views on their preferred sports. He therefore called on members of SWAN to be steadfast in promoting sports communication and commended them for increasing their membership to encourage more enthusiasts.
Earlier, the SWAN Chairman of Bayelsa chapter, Alambo Datonye Fred stated that the aim of the association is to promote sports in the state, in addition to improve welfare and capacity of members.
He prayed for the support of the Ministry in the forthcoming SWAN week in the state, to enhance their performance.
