“Today, we are here to perform the foundation laying ceremony of a new Commissioner’s Quaters. You will agree with me that the policies of the state government over the years have also assisted in growth of Yenagoa as an Urban state capital. The first Commissioners Quaters was built by DSP Alamieyeseigha of blessed memories, at Opolo, and thereafter, a new Commissioners Quaters was built, this time, by the current Minister of Petroleum Resources, States, who was the Governor at that time, Chief Timipre Sylva.
And there was a policy at that time, for the Commissioners to acquire the houses that they were living, and that was successfully done, and the new Commissioners Quaters was built at same Opolo.
So again, when we assumed office, we saw the policy as a good policy that will expand our urban capital city of Yenagoa, and so in one of our State’s Executive Council meetings, that policy was adopted and we agreed that, the current occupants of the new Opolo Commissioners Quaters, will do some sacrifices and assisted by the state government, we will equally expand Yenagoa by building a new Commissioners Quaters.
That follows again that, the current Commissioners as they finish, those buildings at Opolo becomes their permanent homes.”
