Today, I joined our leader, His Excellency, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,GCFR, Senate President, H.E Godswill Obot Akpabio, my colleague, H.E. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Governor of Ondo State and other leaders of the Niger Delta, to grace the Niger Delta Stakeholders Summit hosted by the NDDC in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
This summit has given some rays of hope that the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC)is still kicking towards building sustainable infrastructure in the region.
Let me appreciate Mr. President for prioritising the Niger Delta, by constituting the board and the management team of the NDDC on time.
While we are glad with the commencement of the coastal road to link Lagos to Calabar, the people of the region crave that construction simultaneously starts from the Calabar end.
On the occasion, I also raised the concerns of our people on the bad state of the East-West Road and called for urgent completion of the road.
Sadly, on my way to the summit today, the one-hour journey took me almost four hours to get to Port Harcourt because of the failed section at Okogbe community on East-West road.
I believe that if the current contractor does not have the capacity to construct the culverts at the bad spots, then let the road be handed over to the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Let me congratulate my dear brother, the Managing Director/CEO of NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku for hosting a successful summit.
