The Project, Expanded, Integrate and Strengthen Systems (EISS) to Build Teachers’ Capacity and Resilience (2024-2028), is the 2nd phase of the European Union’s programme on Education and Youth Empowerment in Nigeria. It is funded by the European Union and UNESCO is providing technical support to the Federal Ministry of Education and relevant agencies in the implementation of the project.
The overall objective of the project is to contribute to improved student attainment and Nigeria’s human development by innovatively increasing the number of qualified and resilient teachers through relevant teacher education policies and programmes in line with Agenda 2063 (Goals 1 and 2) and Agenda 2030 (SSG 4c, 4.5 and 4.7).
While the development and implementation of policies will be national in scope, the project has six (6) focus states; Adamawa, Bayelsa, Enugu, Katsina, Oyo and Plateau, selected from each geo-political zone by the European Union Delegation in Nigeria.



The Launch of the project in Yenagoa will mark the official commencement of implementation of the project in Bayelsa State. The event will provide a platform to sensitive Stakeholders on the project, present the objectives, implementation strategy and expected outcomes of the project.
His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, ably represented by His Excellency, Senator Lawrence Ewrudjakpo, Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State will officially launch the project and inaugurate the State Project Steering Committee, which will provide overall guidance for project implementation.
