The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Health Professor Seiyefa Brisibe attended the 7th Medical Laboratory Sciencetists week in Yenagoa.

‎He expressed appreciation to the association, highlighting the intentional and strategic presence of the Ministry of Health at the event.

Professor Brisibe further noted that ‎the Ministry’s presence signifies a commitment to inclusivity, recognition of all stakeholders, and fostering mutual respect within the health sector.

The Commissioner who represented the deputy governor, Sen. Lawrence Ewrudjakpo emphasized that under the current leadership, the eradication of internal health professional dichotomies, demonstrating unity and shared purpose has been top on the agenda.

His words: ” ‎I made it a duty to personally attend professional association meetings, especially AGMs, believing that effective healthcare outcomes and saving lives are achieved when professionals work together with love, respect, equity, and fairness.

‎‎The Ministry has provided clear leadership, strengthened governance structures, and is working to deliver robust healthcare aligned with the Assured Prosperity Agenda.

‎‎Key initiatives include investments in health infrastructure, addressing human resource needs, and innovative approaches to reduce maternal and child mortality, thereby elevating the health sector’s national and international standing”, he stressed.

‎‎ He further expressed deep appreciation for the free and invaluable support provided by medical laboratory scientists and also acknowledged them as their contributions have been crucial to the Ministry’s achievements and its improved recognition at both national and international levels, which successes would not have been possible without them.

‎‎Professor Brisibe urged health professionals to demonstrate and appreciate teamwork, interprofessional synergy, work together equitably, and eliminate internal professional dichotomies as the goal is to foster an environment of love, respect, equity, and fairness to effectively achieve desired healthcare outcomes and save lives.
