The Bayelsa State government says it is committed to the improvement of agriculture in the state through its partnership with the South Korean government.
The Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural resources, Prof. Beke Sese made the remark while briefing executive council members during today’s State Executive council meeting at Government House, Yenagoa.
“We had a ten day working visit to Seoul, South Korea under the Korean International Corporation Agency. It was fully sponsored by the Korean government.
We have established an understanding that Korean government will share with us high yielding rice seedlings. And they are also very ready to assist with provision of tractors. They are going to send some of their personnel to train our engineers on how to manage the tractors.
This partnership between Bayelsa State government and Korean government is because of the special relationship between our governor and the former Korean ambassador to Nigeria. It’s to our governor’s credit that Bayelsa state has been exposed internationally in agriculture.
And I believe very strongly that what we learnt there, no effort will be spared. We will begin to see the positive manifestation in some aspects of agriculture in Bayelsa State,”Prof. Sese said.
