The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai has assured Professional groups of Government partnership in achieving their respective goals.
The Commissioner gave the assurance when the leadership
of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), and Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) paid her a courtesy visit in her office, Yenagoa.
Hon. Obiyai noted that effective communication and information management is key in the development of any organization, as well as society, stressing that government will continue to initiate developmental programmes to accelerate growth of the State.
The Commissioner commended the various bodies for their peaceful disposition to the prosperity administration led by Senator Douye Diri, adding that Government would partner relevant institutions with laudable programmes to move the state forward.
In his remarks, the Chairman of NIPR Bayelsa State Chapter, Dr Ebiwari Wariowei informed the Commissioner of its forthcoming Diamond Jubilee on 15th August, 2024, as well as the 23 anniversary of the State chapter, with the theme: “Public Relations Value, Reorientation and Economic Revitalization.”
Dr Wariowei stated that there would be economic tree planting exercise at strategic places and roadwalk as part of its programme.
In a related development, the Chairperson of NAWOJ Bayelsa State chapter, Mrs Grace Orumieyefa informed the Commissioner that for over 30 years, the association stands for peaceful advocacies and gender based programmes for girls, boys and the vulnerable of society.
She reeled out their upcoming programmes including; adequate breastfeeding for babies, campaigns against social vices, indecent dressing, the protection of girl/boy child and peaceful coexistence.
On their part, the General Manager, NTA Yenagoa, Mrs Daoju White solicited the Ministry’s partnership, adding that NTA has a wider coverage to ensure adequate dissemination of government and State programmes.
Also expressing their commitment, the Chairperson of SWAN Bayelsa State, Mrs Timinepre Ohia noted that the visit was to strengthen the existing collaboration between Sports Journalists and the Ministry in promoting sports reportage in the State.
