Bayelsa State Governor His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri has reiterated his administration’s commitment to educational development in the state.
The Governor stated this while speaking during a fund raising ceremony, to aide the early take off of Federal University of Agriculture Bassmbiri, Bayelsa State.
Governor Diri was represented in the occasion by the state Commissioner for Education Dr Gentle Emelah.
While speaking, Senator Diri restated his administration’s firm resolve to promoting educational development of Bayelsa State, as education remains a priority on the ASSURED PROSPERITY AGENDA .



” In a bid to ensure a seamless takeoff of the University, I inspected facilities for the temporal takeoff of the Institution in 2024 and subsequently, graciously approved the release of all required educational facilities in the Community for the temporal site of the Institution.
Futhermore, Government directed the Hon. Commissioner for Lands to commence proceedings to secure the Survey Plan of the permanent site of the University.
Also, Education Ministry will work closely with the Management of the Institution to see critical areas we can intervene to give the Institution a facelift.
The State Government will continue to build more schools as against closing down existing ones hence; the open arms with which we welcomed the siting of the Federal University of Agriculture Bassambiri (FUAB) in Bayelsa State.
I used this medium to commend the Federal Government and all key players who contributed to the establishment of the Federal Institution in Bayelsa State, while emphasizing the need for all stakeholders to put politics aside in our quest to grow the University to become an educational hub of agricultural education and excellence in Nigeria.
