Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri today, attended the funeral service in honour of His Royal Highness, Late King Christian Atani Okpofaa Otobotekere, at Our Saviour’s Anglican Church, Tombia- Ekpetiama, Yenagoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.
The Late King Otobotekere, aged 98, was until his death the Amananaowei of Tombia Community, and father of Dame (Mrs.) Didi Walson -Jack, Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Water Resources.
“We are here, celebrating the life and times of a man who has not only impacted his family, but has also impacted his community, clan, State and this country.
Life is so ephemeral that, 98 years of our father looks like a few years ago, and if it were our wish, we would have loved this Poet, Author, Traditional leader and Father to stay longer, but we are just mortals. So, for the only time we have here on earth, let us encourage that bond of unity and love that has brought us together as humans and as a state.
We give thanks to God for the life and times of our father. In all his experiences of work, he has been a man of character and integrity.
Let me on behalf of the Government and good people of Bayelsa State, convey our heartfelt condolences to the Otobotekere family, Tombia Community and Ekpetiama Kingdom. We pray God to give you the fortitude to bear this loss,” Governor Diri stated.
