Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri has approved over Five Hundred Million Naira for the purchase of Agricultural equipment to ensure a robust agricultural sector and intensify the fight against food insecurity in the state.
The Governor made this known while declaring open, the ”Awareness and Outreach Program on Modern, Climate Resilient and Profitable Oil Palm Production in Bayelsa State”, organized by the Nigerian Institute For Oil Palm Research (NIFOR) in collaboration with the State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, held at Golden Tulip Hotel, Government House, Onopa, Yenagoa.

Represented by the Commissioner For Agriculture and Natural Resources, Prof. Beke Tuboukiye Sese, the Governor noted that the State due to its fertile soil, climatic condition and strategic positioning at the heart of the Delta, is too naturally endowed to suffer from food scarcity.
In light of the above, all the Agric trainees have received #500,000 each to aid agricultural development in the State.
