approves 5 Supervisory Councillors, 3 Personal Aides to Chairmen

His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State has sworn-in eight newly appointed Local Government Caretaker Chairmen.

The Local Government Caretaker Chairmen sworn-in are Alabo Hanson Karima (Brass) Chief Belemu Nemine (Ekeremor), Barr. Inemo Oruebimiekumo (Kolokuma/Opokuma), Samuel Akalaguo (Nembe), Chief Ibu Williams Mizodome (Ogbia), Richman Samuel Ebipade(Sagbama),Lucky Okodeh (Southern Ijaw) and Toby Andy (Yenagoa).

Also sworn-in were 31 out of the 32 appointed Chairpersons for the Local Government Rural Development Authorities.

The ceremony followed the screening and confirmation of the new appointees by the State House of Assembly.

In a charge to the new Local Government officials, Governor Diri, directed all the appointees to reside in their council areas and ensure proper accountability in the discharge of their duties.

The Governor who placed the Local Government administrators under the direct supervision of the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, warned them against taking loans for the running of the councils.

To achieve proper accountability, the Governor also said five Supervisory Councillors have been approved for each of the Council area from the list of the Caretaker members and that the Chairmen are entitled to three Personal Aides which include a Personal Assistant, Chief Security Officer and a Protocol Officer.

“First, let me congratulate all of you. I am glad that we can now move forward with our Local Government and Rural Development Authorities. This ceremony signifies a new chapter in our Local Government administration, one that is rooted in the mantra of prosperity, driven by effective leadership, accountability and pursuit of sustainable development”, Gov. Diri stated.

Dignitaries at the swearing-in ceremony include the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, the Chief Judge of the State represented by Justice Doris Adokeme, PDP State Chairman, Chief Solomon Agwana and other top government functionaries.
