Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Ayiba Duba said the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) created in 1973 encourages national integration and nation building.
Hon. Duba made the remark during the send-off ceremony of five NYSC members in the Ministry.
The commissioner stated that the scheme expands knowledge and promotes social interactions that allow Nigerians appreciate our different cultures and belief systems.
He lauded the ex-corps member for their meritorious service to the nation and Bayelsa state and prayed for the success of their endeavours.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Jane Help Yawei urged the ex-corps members to impart meaningfully on society, as they explore the labour market.
In appreciating the Commissioner and staff of the Ministry for their hospitality, Mr. Duniya Victor on behalf of his colleagues noted that the NYSC programme expanded their frontiers and understanding of the loving nature of Bayelsa people, and thanked God for a successful service year.
Other ex-corps members include: Chuks Mark Emmanuel, Okoro Kween Ogadinma, Oloyeda Adesewe and Ani Oluchukwu Veronica.
