The prosperity led administration of Sen. Douye Diri empowers women and youths in the State
The event tagged “Women and Youths Empowerment Programme” recently concluded the June/July batch of 420 business owners at the Ministry of Women Affairs conference hall, Annex 4, Yenagoa.
The programme is in fulfillment of govenment’s promise to support indigenous Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the State.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Faith Opene reiterated government’s commitment to empower one man, one woman across the one hundred and five (105) Wards in the State with Two Hundred Thousand (N200,000) Naira each; a total of two hundred and ten (210) SMEs monthly.
She added that the programme has benefited over one thousand two hundred and sixty
entrepreneurs across the eight Local Government Areas.
Earlier, the Secretary of the committee, Barr. Eunice Akene, who is also the Special Adviser to the Governor on Poverty Alleviation noted that the committee will continue to monitor and mentor business owners to improve their productivity.
Barr. Akene urged beneficiaries to judiciously use the funds to improve their businesses.
Beneficiaries across the 8 LGAs expressed gratitude to government and pledged the proper use of the funds.
