It was prize giving day as the Bayelsa State Commissioner For Education, Hon. Dr. Emelah Gentle, on behalf of the Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF) presented cash prizes to our Boys and Girls who participated in the National Robotics Challenge where Bayelsa State Represented by Government Model Secondary School came Third (3rd).
Students of Government Model Secondary School, Ogbia emerged second runners up, in a national Coding and Robotics competition held in Abuja.
The competition had the theme: Robotics for Climate Action was organized by “Next Robotics Academy”, the official partner of Nigeria’s International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
Four schools from Bayelsa, Ijaw National Academy (INA) Kaiama, Sports Academy Asoama, Government Model Secondary School Ogbia and Government Model Secondary School, Ekeremor were selected to participate in the competition after submitting videos of their projects.



GMSS Ekeremor and Ogbia progressed to the finals.
Dr. Emelah commended the State representatives at the competition and particularly appreciated Government Model Secondary School Ogbia for bringing honour to the State in their maiden national competition.
This, He reiterated justifies the intervention of the Bayelsa State Government in Education through the Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF) in coding and robotics training for students in the State as I urged them to put in more effort in future outings.
As a show of support and encouragement, the Students, Teachers and Mentors were rewarded with cash prizes.
Once again Dr. Emelah hailed the EDTF Board, led by Dr. Alice Atuwo for always rendering quality educational services to our dear State. “Together we shall continue to develop and equip our students with relevant knowledge and exposure to shine both nationally and globally”, He added.
