…Bayelsa yet to get FG’s support
… As Governor clears air on pledge by Azikel
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri has appreciated former Vice President of Nigeria and Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and other corporate bodies like Azikel Group of companies that have supported Bayelsa State on the ravaging flood.
The Governor expressed his appreciation at the 92nd State Executive Council meeting at the Exco Chambers of Government House, Yenagoa.
The Governor also acknowledged the Nigerian Airforce for airlifting food items procured by the Bayelsa State Government into Yenagoa.
The Governor also cleared the air on the pledge made by Azikel Group and the federal government through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), stating that Bayelsa State Government has not received any relief materials from NEMA.
“I am in touch with the DG of NEMA, he has promised that support and succor will come, we are still waiting for that.
“Also, I must thank our brother, Dr. Godbless Azibuapu Eruani, for identifying with his people. Dr. Eruani pledged to donate food items worth N350 million Naira. And when we start to receive them, we will let the public know. For now, it is a pledge, we have not received. Those media reports should be corrected”, Gov. Diri stated.
