The Bayelsa State Executive Council on the 28th February 2025 held a valedictory session at the Hallow Chambers in honor of the late Commissioner for Women, Children Affairs, Empowerment and Social Development, Mrs. Elizabeth Timilaemi Bidei.

Governor Douye Diri, in his tribute, described Mrs. Bidei as a dedicated and passionate public servant whose contributions to governance and social development will be deeply missed by both the council and the state.

He acknowledged her strong commitment to faith, recalling how she actively participated in morning devotions and all-night programs at the government house chapel. The governor emphasized that what truly matters is not how long one lives but the impact he/ She created.

Other members of the Executive Council also paid glowing tributes to the late commissioner. The Commissioner for Information, Orientation, and Strategy, Hon. Ebiewou Koku Obiyai, recalled knowing Mrs. Bidei since she ventured into partisan politics. She described her as a source of encouragement and motivation, stating that her legacy would continue to inspire many.

Similarly, the Commissioner for Justice, the Commissioner for Works, the Commissioner for Sports, and the Commissioner for Local Government Commission all highlighted Mrs. Bidei’s unwavering dedication to service and advocacy for women and children’s welfare.

Mrs. Bidei’s passing marks a significant loss to the Bayelsa State government. While colleagues and associates mourn her departure, they also celebrated her enduring legacy of service and commitment to the betterment of the the state.
