The Joint Council of Epie- Atisa Youths Forum under the leadership of its Chairman, Hon. Ben Karibo Wunukizibe, held a crucial meeting with the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, on Monday, at the Government House in Yenagoa.
The meeting was convened in response to the growing security concerns in the state capital, particularly the recent cult-related clashes and associated killings.
In his opening remarks, the Deputy Governor warmly welcomed the Forum and expressed appreciation for their proactive engagement on matters affecting the peace and stability of the state.



Chairman Hon. Ben Karibo Wunukizibe emphasized the urgent need for collaboration between community leadership in the Epie-Atissa twin kingdoms and key security bodies, including the Bayelsa State Community Safety Corps and Operation Doo-Akpor. He advocated for strategic deployment of security patrol vans at known flashpoints across Yenagoa to mitigate the rising wave of cultism and violence.
Additionally, Hon. Wunukizibe appealed to the state government to expedite the long-delayed Oguan Youth election, stressing its importance for youth representation and stability within the twin kingdoms.
In response, His Excellency Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo assured the delegation that he would convene a strategic meeting with relevant security agencies, including the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), highlighting the direct link between drug abuse and criminal activities. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to tackling both crime and substance abuse holistically.
Regarding the Oguan Youth election, the Deputy Governor disclosed that deliberations are already underway and that an official date for the election would be announced in due course.
The chairman concluded by expressing his gratitude to the Deputy Governor for his continued support and willingness to engage with youth leaders from the Epie-Atissa twin kingdoms. Thank you.
