Bayelsa State Commissioner for Health ‎Professor Seiyefa Brisibe received in audience members of the Bayelsa State Peace Architecture, Search for Common Ground foundation; an international peace-building organization in Nigeria, led by Mr. Inebaraton Preye, PhD, at his office in Yenagoa.

‎The visit centred on the implementation of a project by the State Peace Architecture and Search for Common Ground Foundation, titled: ‘Community-Centered Approach to Transforming Criminality and Violence in the Niger Delta,’ which aims to address issues of environmental degradation, criminality, and violence (drug abuse) through a multi-stakeholder state-level dialogue.

‎The Commissioner, was joined in the discuss by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ebiye Sawyer mni, and other Directors of the Ministry, expressed profound appreciation for their commitment, passion, and readiness to serve humanity, highlighting that creating opportunities to solve human problems brings immense joy to the state government.

‎He further said, the Assured Prosperity administration, led by the Governor, His Excellency Sen. Douye Diri, is highly committed to solving human problems, particularly in preventing, mitigating, and eliminating drug abuse in Bayelsa State, based on the principle, ‘that prevention is better than cure.’

‎Prof. Brisibe emphasized the inextricable link between health and peace and called for a vital multi-party collaboration between Bayelsa State’s Peace Architecture, the Search for Common Ground Foundation, and the Ministry to ensure institutional collaboration as a strong platform for their collective efforts in combating various menaces in society.

He further stating that contributing to health, especially by combating drug misuse, is crucial for a peaceful society.

‎The Health Commissioner, on behalf of the Ministry and the State Government, assured members of the state’s Peace Architecture and the Search for Common Ground Foundation of support and readiness in combating crimes and providing solutions for the greater good of society.
