The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has approved the designation of the motor park at Ekeki in Yenagoa Local Government Area as an Intra-State/Intra-City Park.

The re-designation became necessary following His Excellency’s directive that all inter-state commercial transport operators in the state capital relocate to the state-owned ultra-modern Transport Terminal at Igbogene.

For clarity, the Ekeki Park is now solely for commercial transport and vehicle operators whose destinations are within the state while the Transport Terminal at Igbogene will be the base for commercial transporters and vehicles going out and coming into Bayelsa.

Transporters are by this directive and information expected to comply with the new transportation arrangement as part of the government’s urban renewal policy.

The state Ministry of Transport will monitor compliance and ensure that the government’s policy decision is adhered to as any operator that flouts the directive will be sanctioned.

The Ministry of Transport urges transporters and vehicle operators to join hands with the Senator Douye Diri-led administration to make Bayelsa a better state for its residents.

Compliments of the season.

Preye Brodrick

Honourable Commissioner for Transport, Bayelsa State
