Ambassador Godknows Boladei Igali, a former federal Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Power and current National President of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has lauded the ongoing construction of the Angiama-Eniwari-Fonibiri road project in Bayelsa State. During a recent inspection visit, he expressed gratitude to Governor Douye Diri for initiating the critical infrastructure project aimed at enhancing connectivity among riverine communities and improving access to the state capital.

The road project, which is considered vital for the socio-economic development of the area, began recently and has already shown signs of rapid progress. Ambassador Igali praised the pace of work, noting significant achievements recorded by the contractors within just two weeks of commencement.

He specifically thanked Governor Diri for approving and committing to the construction of the road, describing it as a bold step toward integrating remote communities into the state’s development framework. He emphasized that the road will play a key role in opening up the hinterlands, facilitating economic activity, and improving the quality of life for residents of the affected communities.

In addition to thanking the state government, Ambassador Igali commended the contractors handling the project for their professionalism and swift mobilization on site. He acknowledged the technical capacity and determination demonstrated in the early stages of the construction.

Ambassador Igali also expressed appreciation to local community leaders and youths for their active involvement in ensuring the project’s security. He noted that the mobilization of community-based security efforts to protect workers and construction equipment was a commendable act of civic responsibility and cooperation.

According to him, the unity of purpose displayed by all stakeholders — including government authorities, the private sector, and local communities — highlights the importance of the project and its acceptance by the people it is intended to serve.

On his part, Mr. Elias Dalal the lead contractor overseeing the road project also extended his appreciation to Governor Diri for the opportunity to contribute to such a significant initiative. He thanked the community leaders and youth groups for their collaboration, particularly in maintaining peace and supporting the ongoing construction efforts.

The contractor assured that, with the level of cooperation received so far, the road project would be delivered within the projected timeframe of two years. He reiterated the company’s commitment to adhering to safety, quality, and environmental standards throughout the construction period.

The Angiama-Eniwari-Fonibiri road, when completed, is expected to significantly improve transportation and accessibility in southern Bayelsa. It will serve as a major link between several remote communities and the Yenagoa metropolis, boosting trade, education, healthcare access, and general mobility in the region.

Residents of the affected communities have reportedly expressed optimism and gratitude for the state government’s intervention. Many view the project as a long-awaited development milestone after years of infrastructural neglect.

The road initiative is one of several projects under Governor Diri’s administration aimed at transforming Bayelsa’s rural landscape and enhancing statewide integration. The administration has repeatedly emphasized its commitment to improving infrastructure, particularly in difficult-to-reach areas that have historically lacked government presence.

Ambassador Igali’s visit and his public commendation further underscore the national and regional significance of the project. His presence as a prominent figure in PANDEF and the wider Niger Delta advocacy space adds weight to calls for sustained development across the oil-rich region.

The construction of the Angiama-Eniwari-Fonibiri road is expected to continue under close monitoring, with periodic assessments to ensure that timelines and quality standards are met as outlined by the project stakeholders.
