PROTOCOLS

Distinguished guests, esteemed NYSC officials, and dear corps members, I am delighted to be with you at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Boro Town, Bayelsa State, to mark the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream I orientation course.

First and foremost, I thank the Almighty God for granting you all a successful orientation exercise. I have been briefed you actively participated in all camp activities and exhibited a high sense of responsibility, accountability, and discipline. Congratulations.

As the great Nigerian poet, Ben Okri, once said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” You, dear corps members, are the pride and future of our great nation, and I encourage you to hold on to your dreams and aspirations.

Today, you will be deployed to your various host communities and places of primary assignment. I know you have already experienced the warmth and hospitality of our people and have every reason to go into your service year with enthusiasm. I call on Local Government Councils, Community Development Committees (CDC) Chairmen, and Traditional Rulers to assist these corps members to settle down and make them feel at home by teaching them the language and culture of the host communities. I urge you to serve faithfully and diligently by rendering quality services to the nation in Bayelsa state.

This Government of Prosperity is committed to your welfare, evident in the quality of the permanent orientation facility, prompt payment of state allowance, our reward system for exceptional corps members, and the generous transportation allowance awaiting you after your service year. We will continue to explore ways of making Bayelsa a home away from home.

In return, I expect you to reciprocate this goodwill by being at your best comportment at all times. We will not tolerate truancy, absenteeism, or tardiness to work. Your services will be critical in our rural schools and health facilities, and I strongly advise you not to induce rejection.

Those of you deployed to our schools must dedicate yourselves to teaching with diligence and passion. You will be role models shaping the destiny of your young wards, who will become responsible citizens and leaders of our great nation.

Remember, the opportunity of a lifetime must be taken in the lifetime of the opportunity. As you leave this camp to commence the final lap of your service, I pray that you find Bayelsa State suited for your noble aspirations and enjoy the opportunities our government of prosperity promises.

Let me sternly warn that my government will not hesitate to sanction any employer who rejects corps members without justifiable reasons.

I commend the founding fathers of the NYSC and thank successive administrations for their support in realizing the aims and objectives of establishing the NYSC. My sincere appreciation goes to the camp management and officials for their hard work in ensuring a successful orientation course in the state.

It is now my pleasure to declare the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Orientation Course closed.

Thank you and God bless us all.
