…As Bayelsa Corps Members Urged to Embrace Strategies for Lifelong Success
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has received commendation for his unwavering commitment to the security and welfare of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state.
The accolades came from the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Okpalifo Obiageli Charity, during a modest passing-out ceremony held in honour of the 2024 Batch B, Stream 1 corps members who completed their service year in Bayelsa.
Mrs. Okpalifo conveyed a congratulatory message from the NYSC Director General, Major General O.O. Nafiu, commending the outgoing corps members for their dedication and contributions to the development of the state. She expressed optimism about their future and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence in their respective careers.

The Coordinator advised the corps members to make full use of the skills acquired through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, urging them to become job creators rather than job seekers. She also encouraged them to remain law-abiding and make informed decisions that would safeguard their post-service futures.
Addressing concerns often associated with life after service, Mrs. Okpalifo urged the corps members to overcome the fear of the unknown and leverage the personal development opportunities provided during their service year.
She expressed gratitude to the government and people of Bayelsa State for their support and for creating a conducive environment that enabled corps members to serve effectively. The host communities were also appreciated for their role in promoting cultural exchange and fostering national unity.
Mrs. Okpalifo specifically acknowledged the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development and the Executive Assistant to the Governor on NYSC Matters for their continuous support, which contributed to a seamless service year. She also extended appreciation to corps employers and NYSC staff for their mentorship and guidance.
In her closing remarks, she offered prayers for the departing corps members and wished them safe travels to their respective destinations. She announced the recognition of four corps members for outstanding performance and noted that while 1,054 members were due for passing out, 14 had their service year extended due to infractions, and 27 others would be remobilised.
Highlights of the ceremony included the presentation of commendation letters, sample Certificates of National Service (CNS), and a special picture frame gift from a corps member to the State Coordinator.
