Bayelsa State Commissioner for Community Development, Hon Alfred Belmote Watson, has described the efforts of Governor Douye Diri’s implementation of the Assured prosperity agenda as a mark of the government’s drive to boost community development and change the city from its mono status to multiple cities and towns as seen in many parts across the globe.

The Community Development Commissioner stated that Governor Douye Diri has taken his promise of rural-urban development as contained in his second term ASSURED mantra evident in his successful completion of the New Commissioners and Assembly Quarters located at the New Yenagoa City Government Reserved Area (GRA) by the Onopa-Amarata axis across the Epie Creek New Layout.

The Honorable Commissioner for Community Development, Hon. Alfred Belemote Watson disclosed this while embarking on a community development project tour across the State to get first hand information about the Prosperity’s administration community development blueprint and policies.

Highlighting Governor Diri’s penchant for community development, Hon. Watson, who took a selected team of journalists round some signature projects in the Bayelsa Central Senatorial District of the Assured Prosperity Government, stressed the significance for a New Yenagoa City to change the narrative of a single-road state capital, to a planned metropolis with all indices of robust development in line with the New Yenagoa City Master plan.

Projects visited were the new Imgbi road link bridge across the Epie Creek to the New Yenagoa GRA, where some indigenous farmers from Amarata Community joined their voices in lauding Governor Douye Diri’s giant strides and commitment to deliver in his promises to turn around the State positively.

At the New Commissioners’ and Assembly Quarters accessible through the Onopa Flyover Bridge, The Commissioner for Community Development, Hon. Watson, inspected the completed internal link roads, and detached duplexes as some new occupants were cited making last minute preparations, including the Commissioner for Environment – Hon. Ebi Ben Ololo, who lent in his voice of commendation to Governor Diri for changing the landscape of the state capital with these new signature projects on urban renewal and rural development.

Wrapping up this first phase tour to these community development projects Hon. Watson, assured residents of other communities of the Governor’s drive to change the narrative one community at a time until every community in Bayelsa State is fully developed with basic necessities.

Other sites also visited were the Central Senatorial District Road project at Angiama-Oporoma Bridge where work was in advance stages with slabs, beams and pillars already erected to give face to the reality of the Angiama Oporoma bridge billed for inauguration as soon as possible.

Hon. Watson also visited Otuan community by road in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area to appraise community development efforts of the Assured Prosperity Government of Senator Douye Diri.

These community Development Efforts have indeed gone a long way in giving bite to the Governor’s Promise of not playing politics with the development of Bayelsa State across board.
