The Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, ANAN has donated an Accounting Research Centre to the University of Africa Toru-orua.
The 13th President of ANAN Dr. James Ekerare Neminebor, FCNA who commissioned the facility in company of fellows and members of ANAN on Monday 14th April 2025 at the University campus, had earlier made the pledge to the University only in August last year.
Appreciating the kind gesture of ANAN, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Africa, Professor Solomon Tamarabrakemi Ebobrah said that he is indeed glad to have received the gift of the facility. He noted that the fulfillment of this pledge is a testament to the integrity of the accounting profession as displayed by the ANAN. He added that it is gratifying to have partners such as ANAN, who realize that government as much as it can do, is not able to take the sole responsibility of funding university education alone, thus ANAN has written its name in gold in the annals of the history of UAT and urged other organizations to follow suite in building the Bayelsa state owned University. He further stated that ANAN is the first to make a promise as such to UAT and fulfill same.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the 13th president of ANAN, Dr. James Ekerare Neminebor, FCNA noted that the research centre has a story that has come over the years in ANAN, adding that every president of ANAN had been given the privilege to site a signature project during his tenure, and for his term, he chose to site it home despite pressure to site it at other institutions. He tasked the University to make proper use of the facility to avoid dilapidation, stating that ANAN has a yearly prize for the running of the centre though that is subject to proper usage of the facility. He also informed that he and the distinguished Senator Henry Seriake Dickson had reached out to the Nigeria Local Content Development Board (NLCDB), and other well meaning Nigerians to solicit for the equipments for the centre.

He further announced that ANAN has endowed a price for the best graduating student in accounting to the tune of One Million Naira.
Giving the vote of thanks, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma thanked the ANAN Chair for the friendship that has birthed this project. He expressed deep appreciation to ANAN, itsโ governing council members, the chief executive officer and every other member. He also appreciated their swift release of funds to the contractors. His appreciation was further heightened as he noted that an earlier visit by ANAN external auditors had showed that this project is so far the largest and the best donated by ANAN.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by the principal officers of the University of Africa, the ANAN President, the first and second Vice Presidents of ANAN, The Chief Executive Officer, fellows and members of ANAN in addition to staff, students and residents of the university community.
The UAT VC on behalf of Council, Staff, and Students of the University also congratulated the ANAN Chief on his very recent conferment of a chieftaincy title by the King and chieftains of the Tarakiri Clan in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. Dr. Neminebor was conferred with the Chieftaincy title of โIsomu-weniowei of Tarakiri Clanโ. The honour was done in recognition of his contribution to the development of the Tarakiri Clan being a son of the soil.
