The Bayelsa State Government has commended MTN Foundation for meeting up to its social responsibilities by providing for its host communities.
The commendation was made by the Commissioner for Health Prof Seiyefa Brisibe while inspecting infrastructural upgrade by MTN Foundation on the Akaba Primary Healthcare Centre in Yenagoa LocalGovernmentArea of the State.
Prof Brisibe on behalf of the government of Senator Douye Diri also received equipment which includes a solar electricity plant, portable water system, delivery beds, new doors, and other quality materials for the health centre. He thanked the MTN Foundation for their timely interventions across the nation. He further noted that indeed “MTN Nigeria has done well in their collaborations for a better Nigeria and have also shown Bayelsans that they’re truly at everywhere you go”.
The Commissioner also appreciated the traditional ruler of the community, health workers, the youths and members of the community for finding out time to welcome the team and for the inspection of the new Healthcare equipment by the MTN Foundation.



“The health of every Bayelsan is significant, it’s also a clear demonstration to the fact that, as a Ministry we cannot do it alone and it has to be all of us together in partnership to get more better results in the health and all sectors in government.
I called on all corporate organizations that operate within our Bayelsa State to identify, prioritize health in their corporate social responsibility programs”, the Commissioner charged.
Prof Brisibe however, pointed out that Akaba Primary Health Center is the third facility MTN Foundation has ungraded in the State stating that
Swali health facility was also undergoing total renovation and that’s also another partnership between the Ministry of Health, State Gov’t and Megastar construction company.
He added that Health must be prioritized and urged all corporate organizations working within the geographical space of Bayelsa should be able to contribute, give back something to the State.
He further used the occasion to commend the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the primary health center, Mr. Sikpi for his selfless service on where ever he goes and other health workers for their good works and assured more Gov’t efforts and support in moving the community forward.
The Commissioner was accompanied by, Hon. Mrs. Ayiba, Member Representatiing Epie/Atissa, Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Permanent Secretary MOH, Dr. Sawyer, Directors of the Ministry, WHO Representatives, Executive Secretary, State Primary Health Care Board, Yenagoa LGA Chairman, Hon. Ndiwari, Chief, Dr. Williams Appah, and other technical and senior health workers.
