As part of the Prosperity Administration’s Commitments, Governor Diri Distributes Starter Packs to 2,850 Beneficiaries
marking his fifth year in office; under the Diri Skills Acquisition Program at the Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre in Yenagoa.
The beneficiaries, trained in various vocational skills including cosmetology, fashion design, shoemaking, paint production, barbing, makeup and gele tying, catering and pastries, and solar energy installation—received essential tools to kick-start their businesses. This initiative aims to equip young people with entrepreneurial skills, reduce dependence on government jobs, and foster a thriving private sector in the state.
Speaking at the event, Governor Diri emphasized the importance of human capital development as a key pillar of his administration’s ASSURED Prosperity agenda. “We can build all the bridges and roads, but if we do not invest in our people, others will come and use them. Today marks another milestone in the Prosperity Administration’s commitment to human capital development. We are equipping our youths with the skills to drive Bayelsa’s economic future. Our administration remains committed to empowering young people, ensuring that our state is not solely government-dependent but one where the private sector thrives”, He stressed.



Governor Diri also commended Mrs. Charity Kens Godwin, Technical Adviser on Entrepreneurship Development, for her dedication to youth empowerment in the state.
In a related development, the Educational Development Trust Fund (EDTF) honored distinguished individuals for their contributions to education in Bayelsa State. These individuals were recognized as Honorary Ambassadors for Education for their role in advancing educational opportunities and human capacity development in the state.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of EDTF Dr Mrs Alice Atuwo expressed gratitude to those who have contributed to the fund, highlighting its growth over the years, and added that at the time of handing over, there were only five schools under the Trust Fund. “Today, we have expanded to eleven, ensuring at least one in each local government headquarters in the state, she added.
