~ as facility commences full medical services, free medical outreach, residents lauds Gov. Diri for people oriented leadership
Agbere-Odoni Cottage Hospital at Sagbama LGA has officially been inaugurated.
The inauguration was performed by the State Governor, His Excellency, Sen. Douye Diri.
The inauguration marks a milestone for the commencement of full medical services and operations as the State Commissioner for Health Prof. Brisibe who represented the Governor at the inauguration ceremony, assured Bayelsans of universal health coverage.
The commissioner noted that the refurbishment and timely commencement of medical services at the hospital facility shows the doggedness and people-oriented style of leadership exhibited by the Prosperity government, and her readiness to bring prosperity to every doorstep and also the fulfilment of various campaign promises made as an administration.

Prof. Brisibe thanked the governor for his prompt approval for the commencement of services at the Cottage Hospital on his assumption of office as Commissioner of Health.
Prof. Brisibe enjoined traditional rulers and indigens to take ownership of the health facility by protecting the staff & properties as well as patronize the hospital as it is now fully operational and offers a wide range of primary and secondary care to all residents of the host communities and environs.
High point of the occasion was the delivery of a newborn baby under the supervision of the Bayelsa Health Commissioner, who promptly named the baby “Prosperity”.
Traditional Rulers, political leaders and residents took turns to commend the governor, His Excellency Senator Douye Diri, his deputy Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo and the Commissioner of Health for refurbishing and making the Cottage Hospital fully operational. Various speakers highlighted the challenges previously faced when seeking medical care, especially emergencies when patients had to travel far away to Kaiama, Odi or Yenagoa but all that has become history as they now have a well equipped and fully operational Cottage Hospital of their own. The people equally used the opportunity to reiterate their support for the Prosperity administration led by Governor Douye Diri.
The inauguration ceremony included a free medical outreach programme offering general and specialist medical services, including general medical checks, free surgeries, dental care, eye care, and the distribution of glasses.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Member Representing Sagbama constituency 3, BYSHA, Hon. Mrs. Ebizi Brown, former Sagbama LGA Chairman, Hon. Embeleakpo Alale, Technical Advisers & Special Advisers to the Bayelsa State Governor, Councillors, Directors of State Health Ministry, Traditional Rulers, Youth Presidents, Women Groups and other top gov’t officials.
