… appreciates Yes Diri for their steadfastness, unveils book
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri today in conjunction with the Yes Diri organisation hosted stakeholders and Bayelsans to a one-day public lecture and book presentation at Okutukutu, Yenagoa, the State capital.
The theme is, “Projecting the Ijaw Nation for Global Representation.”
Governor Diri while making his remarks appreciated the Yes Diri initiators, Hon. Gentle Emelah, Commissioner for Education and Engr. Olice Kemenanabo, Managing Director, Bayelsa State Electricity Company, for the sustainability of the organisation.
The Governor stated that the Prosperity Government has done well citing that it was the call of reconciliation that brought about the many achievements in his first tenure.
“I want to acknowledge my Commissioner for Education and Engr. Olice, the MD of our electricity company. We are here today gathered in this number and for the organisation that I thought was anomic, I thought that the Yes Diri group was for our campaigns and elections but today they have proved all of us wrong that beyond campaigns and elections, they are a group that has come to stay.
So, I like to acknowledge you and thank you for your steadfastness and for looking beyond elections and campaigns.
We have also tried in the past four years, as a government we started with the realisation that we cannot achieve anything if we are so factionalised and what we did from that initial stage was to have a reconciliation committee. And that committee went a long way to reconcile our political leaders so that we can come together and unite for action. And because we are united, government programs and policies were pursued and that was why for four years we were able to achieve the little that we have achieved,” Governor Diri said.
The Governor was joined by the keynote speaker, Senator Sunday Marshal Katung to unveil the book.
