Bayelsa State Government on Friday commenced the distribution of rice to the vulnerable in the state.

Performing the flag off exercise at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall in the state capital, the state Commissioner of Information, Orientation and Strategy Hon. Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai said forty bags of rice are being distributed to each of the 105 wards in the state.

Hon.Koku-Obiyai said the gesture was part of government’s efforts at identifying with the vulnerable members of the society during the yuletide season.

She charged all local government chairmen in the state to adhere strictly to Governor’s directive; that items should not be distributed to politicians and government officials in the state.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Chairman of the council Hon. Target Segibo thanked the prosperity administration of Senator Douye Diri for the kind gesture.

Hon. Segibo reassured the Commissioner that items will be distributed to the targeted population as directed by the Governor.
